“Love and loss
I’ve endured
On that day
I could take no more”
I looked around and saw not a home but rather a shrine to house my material possessions. From years of conditioning, it was my belief that these collections were a legacy to pass on to my daughter, Marissa. I shared with her my thoughts. Marissa told me that she had no attachment to any of our things. She said, “Mom, your life needs a life. Go follow your heart.” Wise beyond her years, Marissa saw the bigger picture. Love is all that matters and is the only thing that we take with us. It was time for me to let go and to accept what I already know. If my true intention was to become whole…I had to surrender my need to control.
